Tooth Extractions

When the local anesthesia is achieved, you should not feel any pain. You may, however, feel some pressure during the tooth extraction procedure. If we cannot completely freeze the tooth, such as in cases where there is a large infection, we will put you on a one week course of antibiotics then try again. At Ridgeway Dental, we try to extract teeth as atraumatically as possible to reduce the possibility of post-extraction discomfort and swelling.

At Ridgeway Dental, we always perform a risk assessment to determine whether removing wisdom teeth benefits your overall oral health more than leaving them in. We highly recommended extracting impacted wisdom teeth if they put you at risk of developing infection, bone loss or decay on the healthy adjacent molars. On the contrary, if the wisdom teeth are buried deep inside the jawbone, or if they are close to vital structures, we may recommend close monitoring instead of extractions.
